What to carry? Santa is coming!
Going to give myself a Christmas present but can't make up my mind on which pistol to buy and looking for some advice. A friend has a KelTech .32 and loves it! But Ruger has come out with the lcp and it looks good too. Not interested in a revolver as I have a Taurus Titatium that I really like for that job so just in a small semiauto. Suggestions from actual experience very much appreciated. I can get .380 ammo in my area so that is not an issue. Thanks!

In my opinion, given the ready availability of .380 ammo and guns of identical size, .32 caliber is obsolete. The round is just too weak for self-defense.
Your friend's experience notwithstanding, the last Kel-Tec P32 I saw wouldn't go through one magazine without jamming. The owner told me he got a matching one for his wife, and that one ALSO tended to jam.
Reliability with the Kel-Tec .380 pistol is also inconsistent, in my experience. Lots of them just won't run 100%.
I have less personal experience with them, but I've heard that the same is also true of the small Ruger clone of the Kel-Tec.
In short, I've seen or heard about too many malfunctions with these polymer microguns to strongly endorse any of them for concealed carry.
My advice is to stick to your revolver.
If you want to go to a small 380 auto, take a look at the new Sig clone of the Colt Mustang.
Alternatively, if you HAVE to go with one of the above, I'd go (reluctantly) with the Ruger.0 -
The ergonomics on the Ruger are better, but Kel Tec has better customer service and costs less. I have never had a problem with either of my Kel Tecs. So IMHO buy the Kel Tec P3AT and get one of the +1 mag extensions. It will greatly improve the grip you get on the pistol. 0 -
If you want a .380 check out the Bersa Thunder. I bought one in April and have put about 500 rounds through it with no problems, and carry it daily.

I've "Pepsi Challenged" them, shooting each one after the other.
I'd agree the Ruger is a *little* better in terms of ergonomics, but not a great deal so.
Agree with the mag extension. . .that helps a LOT in terms of getting a good grip on the gun.
If you're going to do this, one of the mini Hogue Grip sleeves also helps. You'll have to trim it down a bit, and consider installing it upside down.0 -
Have you given any thought to availability of AMMO/reloading components?!?! I've been buying 380 ammo in little out of the way hardware stores cause none of the big guys can get the stuff? Don't know about 32 ammo. But worth thinking about before you can't make your new Christmas prsent go bang!! 0 -
NAA Guardian, Seecamp or how about the new little Sig? I have the NAA and it's well made, reliable. A bit heavy, but very small. 0 -

It's a little heavier, and a little more costly, but the .32 acp Beretta Tomcat is something you should take a look at. 0 -

I was surprised recently when I went into one of our local sporting goods stores and they had a FULL shelf of 380 ammo. First time I saw that much in a long time.0 -

I wouldn't be surprised to see a shelf full of .380 ammo, but I WOULD be surprised to see a shelf full 48 hours later!0 -
