I have a Remington 512 with a grooved receiver and would like to know when Remington started making 512's with the grooved receiver

  Even though I can't exactly answer your question I can give a clue. I got a new Remington model 511 in 1950 that did not have the grooved receiver.

  Thanks, mine doesn't have a serial number, and I think Remington started using them around 1955, so the time frame is narrowed to 4 years

  Even tho Rem didnt serial number them, they did put a date code on them. Check what your date code is to help narrow it down too.
