Browning A500R Review by owners??

Hello all,

I have recently purchased an early model Browning A500 (R), NIB at a show for a very fair price.

My A500 is early model, recoil operated without the red letter marking on the side of receiver. H marked on triggerguard.
I purchased it as I find many of it's features to be very interesting.

Forum reivew will determine if i keep it for hunting or not.

I am after realistic reviews of the Browning A500R from actual owners/users, detailing what performance they recd. from this shotgun. Pros, cons, praise, problems...

I am neither after critical reviews from those who have never shot the A500R extensively, nor am I after reviews from those who are "A5" fanatics. I realize the A500 is not an A5.

If I wanted an A5, I would have bought one.

Please do not comment if you have not shot or used the A500 considerably, I am after experience, not opinion.

    Hope my wording didn't cause any ill feeling with A5 owners,the A5 is an absolute masterpiece.

    I only wish to keep the replies focused on the A500R performance issue.

    Love mine, it shoots straight and feels great. I have had a lot of problems with ejection, especially on light loads. Did some chasing, had more than one smith tell me browning gave up on this gun because of that after a couple of years of each series. They sold all the parts to a couple of companies, I called one and got a new set of springs, and the last couple of seasons haven't had a single stovepipe. Probably spent 8-10 years dealing with stovepipes, but still felt it was worth it, just because of how much I liked shooting it. I'm tol the springs are hit and miss, so YMMV.
