Russian SKS Variant

I recently bought a russian sks (1953r Tula) from a friend for 200 bucks. The gun is in excellent shape and has all matching numbers except for the magazine. The gun has an original synthetic stock that looks like wood. I was told that the synthetic stocks are more rare and that they were used in harsher weather conditions. Anyone know if this gun has any collector value? Thanks, Jim.

  If it's a red plastic it's Chinese rather then Russian. Probably was restocked after being sold as surplus here in the 90's. I bought a similar Russian that had been restocked years ago. I had hopes that it was a rare SKS variation known as a Sino-Soviet. These were early production Chinese SKS's assembled with Russian made parts. I was really disappointed to find out that these have Chinese markings on the receiver.
