Just working on a similar problem a few weeks ago. If it's not "high primers" check if the unit has a small firing pin (9mm style). My parts are not in yet from Ed Brown, but the group recommended a steel firing pin and lower tension spring from Ed Brown as a possible fix.

I am trying this before I bore out the firing pin to .090" dia. and use a std pin and spring.

Hello I have loaded and shot in the neighborhood of 300,000 rounds of lead 185-215 grain semi wadcutter lead 45ACP rounds . The most important thing to get 100% function is matching the load to the spring and having a round that is the correct OAL for your chamber and a TAPER crimp case mouth . Lets talk about the crimp and OAL first . A roll crimp is fine if every case you load is the exact same length but straight walled cases get shorter when loaded and shot if you have a long case it will over crimp and a short case will under crimp both will end up giving a too large case mouth. with a taper crimp you are looking for a case mouth about .001-.002 smaller then 1/4 inch down from the mouth this normally =.469 inch. Take the barrel out of the pistol and adjust seating die so a loaded case with proper taper crimp will drop fully i to the chamber under its own weight with the case head .005-010 below flush with the rear of the barrel hood. Now about the spring what you want is a spring that if you load one round in the magazine and fire it the slide will lock back "OPEN" this will prove the powder is strong enough to fully cycle the slide. Too heavy of a spring will not fully cycle the slide and too light a spring will batter the pistol[V] also NEVER use shock buffers they keep the slide from going all the way back and CAN spoil the timing needed to let the next round to fully rise in the magazine thus the slide will hang on loading and the round will not fully chamber looking like "LIGHT " firing pin hit. IF any [?][?][?]go to my profile and email me "PRAISE THE HARD BALL GUN"
