1022 vs. Marlin 60 ???

Hello Forum,
I never owned a 1022 but have had a Marlin 60 for many years. I have a chance to get a Ruger 1022 stainless steel with the laminate stock that runs to the end of the barrel (Manlicher style?)... So, what do you think?

    I realize there are a lot of Model 60 fans out there, but for my money the 10/22 has it beat coming and going. Easier to work on, absolutely no comparison when it comes to after market options, better trigger, better magazine, etc. etc. etc.
    Everybody should own at least one.

    The mannlicher ones are somewhat collectable, if the price is right grab it.

    If you want to change a lot of parts out, the 10/22 is for you... very easy to customize with lots of options for parts.

    The Ruger is a lot of fun and builds on it are mild to wild. Builds for the 60 are starting to pop up though. 10/22s do seem to be ammo picky and out of the box it'll never be as accurate as the Marlin.

    BTW,I sold the Ruger and kept the 60. Its scoped, bipoded, and shooting .5" at 50 yards so far with cheap Fed bulk for just under $200[:D]

    FWIW, I've only had 4 10/22's, but never had a feeding problem with any of them and they got fed everything from Federal Bulk to the better grades of standard velocity target stuff. My current rifle is a old beavertail, unaltered except for adding an overtravel screw on the trigger, and will consistently give me 5/8" groups at 50 yards with Winchester Power Points. Best group to date was 5 shots at the same size, but 100 yards. No, I can't do it every time, but when I miss I know whose fault it is.[:D][:D]

    I agree. IMHO an out of the box Marlin is more accurate than an out of the box 10-22. I still own 2 10-22s and one Marlin. I have put my Marlin against many stock 10-22s and beat them out right. However, I would never be crazy enough to challenge the 10-22s with some of the add-on after market barrels. I am amazed at the accuracy I have seen with these barrels. That is one advantage Ruger has over the Marlin.

    I would rather have an old Marlin 60 over a new-production 10/22, and I would rather have an old 10/22 over a new-production Marlin.

    The 10/22 has more variety in after market stuff, from accuracy to tactical to mall ninja. The rotary mag makes it easy to load quickly and easy to carry unloaded but "ready".

    The Marlin, stock, is a more accurate gun and in my experience, much more user friendly insofar as jamming, Fail to eject, ammo sensitivity, etc.. Cheaper, too, usually.

    Depends on what you want. Out of the box, shoot anything, reasonable to super good accuracy........ Go with the Marlin

    Versatility to trick it out completley, accurize and make it a $600 tack driver with fluted barrel and laminated stock, or want a truck gun that you can carry unloaded but slap a magazine in quickly.... then go with the 10/22.

    I always advise people who want a stock 10/22 and who don't want to upgrade it or buy expensive High Velocity ammo; to buy a single action revolver to carry with them to the range. Then they will have something to shoot up all the live ammo that gets spit out, dropped, jammed and stovepiped in the 10/22.

    I have both and the 10-22 is my pick. I don't like the tube feed on the 60 either.

    I have owned both. The tube feed on the Marlin is alot slower than the 10/22 magazine but the Marlin is much more acurate.If you aren't planning a buildup and want a fun plinker right out of the box, get the Marlin.
