Rem 722---.257 Rob
Can anyone tell me the date of Manufacture on this gun? Barrel date code is not ledgible. S. N. 354101. Gun has no checkering, and looks like standard grade wood. But pad is a White line by Mershon Co. Inc. L A Calif. LOP is 13 1/2", Bbl. is 24". THX HAWKSHAW

Sir,
The Remington Model 722 was first introduced in 1948. The 257 Roberts chambering was discontinued in 1960. Your gun will fall into this time span.
With a good magnifying glass & natural light, examine the barrel date code again. If truly unledgable, then the above is as close as anyone can come.

I know this site will give the barrel code breakdown, but since you can't read it they give you a contact number e-mail here too, to ask questions.
FWIW, I have a Rem 722 with a 20" barrel and it's a Remington barrel. It didn't come like that from the factory. But, there was no record it was a Remington Custom. Serial 291XXX and Feb 1953. The Z's didn't seem to get stamped correctly and show more like angle marks. So '54 would be an A and '55 would be a B.0
