AR15 flat top.optic advice
I'm buying my daughter a stag left hand AR, I'm getting the full flat top model. Is there any scope rings or scope mounts to where you can have flip up sights and a scope?

Here is my left hand DPMS AR. It has a piccatiney rail that I mounted an ACOG TAO1 scope on. Red dot scopes will also fit on the flat top. The flip up rear sight will not work with the ACOG, but there are raised mounts that will work in congunction with flip up's.

I got a red dot that mounts to flat top and also, got the removable handle, with handle mounting scope.. Love em both, can switch for what I'm doing.

Well, I would suggest going to

and looking at their quick detatchable options. You can have a scope mounted, with flip ups on either end. I have the QD LT-104 mount, and absolutely love it.
yes, they are pricey, but they are extremely good too. They return to zero when re-attatched.

There are many combinations that could work together.
As mentioned, you just want folding "BUIS" (back-up iron sights).
There are multiple good makes of these available (Troy industries, Yankee Hill, Midwest industries, Matech, UTG, etc). These can be pricey, but the higher-end ones are quite strong, and are intended for actual combat.
I think most of these are designed to be the same height as the standard AR-15 type fixed sights.
I'd add that if you can, you should try to make sure that whatever scope/mount combination you choose is exactly in line with the iron sights, with the same zero point.
This is sometimes called "co-witness".
That way the iron sights act as a true backup, and the shooter won't have to alter her head position to use either the scope or the iron sights. Also, if either the iron sights or (more likely) the scope get knocked out of alignment, the co-witness makes seeing this problem simple.0 -
I use YHM flip-up BUIS and an Aimpoint Comp M2 in an American Defense QD mount on my Stag carbine.
Works great. The irons work through the Aimpoint or I can remove it and just use the sights.
The A.D. mount has always returned to zero so far.0
