    Colt is not real careful about such things. My Ace .22 is on a 70B frame and I have seen .45s on SM numbered receivers.

    They used "Commander Model" slides on Combat Commanders as available during the early production of the steel framed guns. Maybe they had steel frames ready before the "Combat Commander" roll stamp was finished and they wanted to get guns out the door. One dealer said the first 1200 but he was trying to make them out as "collector's items." I have seen others of later manufacture marked backwards, too.

    I am confident your satin nickel gun is original.
