"New Classic"?
If you are talking about one of Smiths' recent recreations of its older blued guns, personally I wouldn't buy one.
That's NOT because the new ones aren't any good (I'm sure they are), but rather why would I want to buy a modern rendition of a classic pistol, made with MIM-parts and with a dubious-value key lock, when I could buy the real McCoy with five screws, pinned and recessed barrel, old-style bluing, and hand finish?
The older ones are only become scarcer and more valuable with time, but they're still shooting as good as ever. I think an older used "shooter" gun will be every bit as good (if not better) than the newer recreation, cost the same, appreciate more, and just have more overall character.
If I misunderstand what you are saying, and in fact, you have just ordered a on older pre-model 14, the K-38 "combat masterpiece", then yeah. . .that's a very nice revolver, and I think you'll be pleased with it.
