Remington Western Auto??
I recently aquired a Remington Western Auto. It's in pretty rough shape, really just a project to waste time on. I was hoping somebody could tell me anything about it. I did a search and had many results for Western Auto but nothing about Remington and Western Auto together or Remington making a Western Auto model.
Thanks,

A Remington Western Auto WHAT?
I assume some sort of firearm, but rifle or shotgun; action type; caliber or gauge?
Best to show pictures.0 -
It's a 12 guage semi-auto pump w/ 18" barrel. I'm out of town and just got it in my hands an hour ago. I won't be able to post any pics until later this week. 0 -

Which one is it; semi-auto or pump?0 -
My apologies. It was late and a few beers down when I first posted this last night. It is a pump action. 0 -
There was a group of auto parts stores back East that sold auto parts, tools, guns etc. in the late 30's, 40's and 50's that were named Western Auto.
That could be where this name came from. ???
That's where I bought all the Scandinavian Model T clutch and brake band lining I was useing.0 -
Sir you need the model number of the weapon to ID it then click on this link and follow it down to Westen Auto and to the model number and it will cross reference to the orignal maker. Rimington is not listed as one of the manufactures for Western Auto.

Remington is not listed as a brand in that reference list, so either one of two things is going on. First list could be incomplete or you don't have a Remington. Look again and make sure it doesn't say Revelation, which was a Western Auto brand.
Or, if it is a Remington, it could have just missed being on that list.
Ok found Remington listed only once on another list and it is the following
Western Field
600ERI 12 ga....
Remington
SPT 58
So your gun could be a Rem SPT 580 -
Thank you for the help. 0 -
If it's a Sportsman 58, it's an auto-loader, not a pump! 0
