Recall EAA Witness
Talking to a gunsmith at the local armory and he told me EAA was recalling the Witness pistols due a firing pin defect. Any truth to the matter??

Took almost a week to get 3 of mine back, all clean and shiny, too!

EAA sells guns??? I've seen several of their ads but I've never seen any guns.... [:p] 0 -
What is the stated defect with the firing pin? I think it has to do with the fact that the original firing pin can be installed incorrectly and thereby create a "slam fire" when the slide is released on a loaded round. Is my memory correct? If so, there is no danger unless the firing pin is installed incorrectly.
gunnut505, what was done to your slides? Were they polished or just cleaned? It would seem that people would not want their slide finishes changed since they would then no longer match the frame finish. Please clarify what you mean by "all clean and shiny."0 -
I mean "clean" as in not a speck of lint, dirt, grease or any other non-gun type of material, and "shiny" as in the finish was so crystal clear on the brushed stainless that you could almost see your face in the reflection. The underside of the slide on one that I sent back had a few imperfections where the Wonder finish had "bled" onto the shiny parts; they got that straightened out as well.
I'm pretty sure that my firing pins were all assembled correctly, I just wanted to see what sort of customer service I would get if I sent multiple guns at one time.
