Russian SKS - No Date Stamp
OK folks, I just purchased a Russian SKS at the pawn shop this morning in excellent condition. Got a really good deal. All serial numbers match, it is blued with the polished bolt, red stock, and blah, blah, blah. Pretty sure it is not rearsenalled. No square stamp with the line or x in it. It was manufactured at the Tula facility.
Here's my quandry. There is no date stamp on the receiver under the factory mark. YooperJ.com says it probably means that it was mfd. late in 55 or early 56. Anyone have any information on this? Any inherent collector value here?
Also wondering about an approximate value. I know, I know, can't figure a value without seeing it. I will try to post a pic later tonight. But just for the record, I'm pretty darn picky and I think it's in really nice condition.

Congratulations on a nice find! I agree with you on the possible date made. It is definitely collectible and uncommon, if not rare. I would think it should be worth at least $500 and possibly a good bit more to a collector. 0 -
real time price would be $400/$425...99% sure it was bought in by KBI INC harrisburg,pa...his son runs the business now...what does the owners manual look like? the bayonet color(metal) will also tell a story...

They all came from overseas [:0][8][;)]0 -
I think what PEZHEAD is referring to is that any with importer marks are not worth as much as say one that was a bring home. I have read (I don't remember where) that any additional marks other than manufacturer's will bring down the value of a firearm. 0
