colt refinishing quality

Last time I asked them about a Python, Colt said they don't do that kind of work. They didn't give a reason.

My guess is that most older guns will need parts; Colt only stocks parts for guns currently in production, a business decision. So, they'd end up starting work & then having to return the gun without being able to charge anything. Keep in mind, there have been several engineering changes in the Python, & parts for the earlier guns may not be obtainable.

I don't know who to recommend, as Pittsburgh Handgun (recommended by Colt) is now closed. But, expect to pay $400-500 for a top quality job.

Look into hard chrome. Have a buddy who pops up on the board sometimes here who has a python, and they look really good hard chromed. Looks kinda like a matte stainless finish, but is the hardest most durable finish you can get.

Nighthawk Custom's ceramic coatings don't cause hydrogen enbrittlement problems like hard tool chrome finishes and are extremely durable because the coat is ceramic.
