Jefferson 22 Smooth Bore ?

I came across what I thought was a 22 bolt action 22 LR. It has a smooth bore and a brass bead front sight and no rear sight on the bbl. It does have a grooved receiver. It this for bird shot? will it shoot a standard 22 LR lead bullet? Thanks

  Most likely made for shooting 22 shotshells. There were some skeet games that used 22's with a smooth bore. I would not fire a regular round in it since there is no rifling.
