Finding a gunsmith

My old gunsmith retired when the store he worked at folded. I recently purchased to reportedly little used semi automatic pistols. I would like to find another one to go over these two pistols to make sure they are safe to fire and if there are any things that may neeed attention. I don't really trust stores. Does going out to the range and asking around be the best bet??

    Where do ya live Daryl? If we knew where your at, we clould maybe help ya out. Listning to "range experts" is at best, spooky. Find a reputable gunsmith, someone who has a business and makes a living working on guns. Spend a few bucks and pay the man for his knowledge.

    If the guns are high grade pistols like Colt or S and W it might be worth sending them to the factory for any work.

    We have a gunsmith here in Benson. He brags a lot about how good he is and that troubles me, but a friend tells me that it is just his way and he is probably OK for what I want done and that is just a safety check and if he sees any potential problems. Perhaps I am being too sensative, but 79 years of water under the bridge has shown me that no one is perfect and least of all those that claim they are.
