Shipping a pistol
A guy I work with but lives in Colorado asked me about shipping a gun there, his father passed away, lives in Iowa and has a "Colt 45" that was issued him in 1940 or 41. I assume it's a 1911. Now, I'm not a FFL and won't pretend to know. But as a pistol you can't ship across state lines without using a FFL? Or when he's back in Iowa can he just take it back?

It is going to have to be shipped to him through an FFL. Since it was his dad's pistol and pop's passed away, he can return home to Iowa, take possession of the pistol and take with it back to Colorado. These are called Interstate Bequests. 0 -
Thank you. His father passed away several years ago and this just came up. 0 -
Of course, your friend must be qualified to possess a firearm, & the firearm must be legal to own in his place of residence.
