Has the military ever considered or tested the "Street Sweeper"?

    No.

Both the Mossberg 500 and the 590 have seen military issue

Why would the military want the street sweeper? They are a POS that is very hard to reload. They work like a single action revolver.

My point man in Viet nam carried a model 12 Winchester, you'd have a hard time telling him it was a P O S.

i have a barrel that fits mossberg 590A1 has special mark on it and is a special grooved type rifleing for sabots.when you look down the barrel it looks smooth with grooves instead of conventional rifling guy i got it from got it from a guy that brought out of the army,it is grey matt finish that matches the 590A1 the muzzle is crowned..neat barrel shot cup would trip the grooves as a smoothbore and sabots would catch the grooves to provide the spin..i have contacted mossberg, but they remain mum on it

I think he was referring to the Striker-12, which is more commonly known as the street sweeper and not other shotguns.

    I agree EMM..

    590A1, benelli M4, Remington 870,

Just an intersting bit of history: They did some R&D on clip fed and full auto shotguns back during VN.. Most of what I have read and been told about, it was usually Remington semi autos with extended mag tubes that they made full auto.. and remington pumps with box mags..

I have even heard tell of a belt fed shotgun, but I've never seen one..
