Hi Standard 101

Hi all
the trigger on my supermatic 101 is not engaging properly after the round is fired. The slide cycles properly and chambers a round, but the trigger has to be physically pushed forward to fire. Any ideas?

    dirt & gunk or spring out of place.Take the grips off and then take KROIL and lube every thing really well put in a zip lock bag and let this soak for 24 hours then spray with brake cleaner and relube with Kroil and replace grips and try again note I just saw you were in canada Kroil is a great brand of oil that will free up rusted parts


    EDIT most likely someone sprayed it with WD 40 That stuff turns into varnish with mixed with some other oils . Did you spray all the trigger and trigger pin areas with brake cleaner[?]or Carb Cleaner.

    EDIT I dont want to sound crude but any gunsmith that advises you to spray WD 40 on a gun is looking for work not helping his customers . WD 40 has it's place but it is NOT a lube it will displace water. But it will react with many gun oils and form VARNISH Carb Cleaner may be your best bet to get this varnish to dissolve but then re oil with light gun oil I like Balistol as you can use it on wood metal and leather oit is biodegradeable and non toxic.

    I stripped the gun and cleaned it thoroughly. I put it back together, and it worked for 2 magazines, and then started acting up again. At least I know the gun will work, i just have to figure out why it's intermittent.

    Sounds like you got a bum trigger return spring, H S sometimes referred to them as sear bar springs.

    You might wind up having to disassemble it and trying to buy a replacement from one of the parts houses. As it dates to the early 60's, this might present a problem.

    That's sounds right. When the shot is fired the trigger will not reset, but if I pull the slide back 1/4" or so then the trigger will reset. At one point I had the gun firing properly and then it stopped again. Any feed back is greatly appreciated.

    Yes, my local gunsmith told me to give it a light coat of WD-40. I'm second guessing his advice from what you have said.

    I will re-clean to remove wd-40 residue, is I have on hand hoppes oil, g-96 lube, I will get what I need, I just don't recognize the brand you mentioned.
