1860 Cavalry Sabre
I have a copy of a US sword that is only marked " R & G " It is not an Ames but otherwise is of the 1850 -1880 era . Does anyone know anything about R & G ?

Could it be "R & C"? Is it marked on the top of the blade near the hilt? If so, it could be Rohrig & Company, Germany.
Check this website and scroll down to "Foreign Marks": http://www.angelfire.com/wa/swordcollector/marks/page1.html0 -
