Winchester deluxe 348??

In my travels I have acumulated a Winchester 71 deluxe in like new condition with an extremely low serial number. How do you put a value on something like this??

    You post some good photos and let us yahoos oogle eye it. With the knowledge of some here, they will get close to a value .

    just picture it coming out of the box and peeling the wax paper off the barrel?? Than having griffin and howe clean it up from there? Went on a hunting trip with the Olin owners and Than placed in a vault than to me, no box.

    no just cleaned up and prepped for the "walk" has a leather sling and no box.

    Is it a pre-war long tang, or post war production? The answer will have an effect on the value.

    If you are interested, I have the Polishing Room Serialization Records information for the pre-war Model 71s, and I can pin down the DOM to the exact date.

    Read an article in a 1942 Sports Afield about John Olin testing an early Model 71 in Alaska. He had shot three Brown Bears..."not loosing any, and shooting one twice, longest distance around 200 yds" Sports Afield, November 1942, Page 45. My friend, maybe you have THAT rifle!

    I'm pretty sure its pre war...Its a three digit serial number.

    Most definitely pre-war. If the serial number is less than 478, the receiver was manufactured in the first year (1935).
