Mach 2 17 HMR ammo

Can Mach 2 HMR ammo be fired in a regular 17HMR rifle without any ill effects ?

  Nope.
  
  The HMR round is based on 22 magnum, the HM2 is based on the 22 long rifle.

  I agree with the above.
  
  However, not to start any disagreements, but I will bet that you could shoot a .17 Mach2 in a .22 LR in an emergency situation. Of course, your accuracy would be horrible.
  
  Inadvertently, I once shot several 25-06 rounds in a 1903 Springfield (30-06), and the only problem was keyholing and inaccuracy. Although I have not tried it, it is likely that .280 Remington would shoot a bit better than 25-06.
