Older Ruger Blackhawk Markings

Does anyone have information about the markings 'S' (seconds) or 'D' (duplicate) on older Ruger Blackhawks and Blackhawk "Flattops"...what do they mean and how much more value does it add to the gun? Thanks.

  I'm a Ruger collector. Email me specific details of what you need to know including caliber and serial number range of the gun. Yes they can add value to the gun especially the S marked seconds.
