BRI?

Been hand gun deer hunting for 20 years or so. Got the shotgun out for my son along with the BRI Sabot slugs that I used years ago in the gun and they were REALLY accutate. Went into Gander to buy some more! No more BRI? Looking through the slug shelves it appeared maybe Winchester's sabot might be a close match. 12 ga. 2 2/4" 1 oz. 50 cal. with listed 1350 FPS. My shotgun has a slug chock in it. What do you think?

    Fordsix is correct. Winchester sold the slugs under their Winchester-BRI name. The silver-gray box and hull shot identical to the original red BRI ( very accurate through rifled barrels ) If you find more, buy enough to last. The new Hornady and Winchester Elite 50 cal sabots shoot 300 gr. slugs very accurately but at 2000 fps. What is a "slug chock" ?

    i think he has one of those PITA rifled choke tubes

    Ya-Sorry, about the spelling! It is in fact a remington rifled CHOKE screw in tube. Has a 21" barrel and shots both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. Topped off with a Leupold 2X and it's just a great deer slug gun. Hope the Winchesters shot as well as the original BRI's did.

    OK I bought several boxes of Winchester's "sabot" slugs. Tips are really concaved?? I know the old BRI's were conical shaped which I expected the new ones to be. Don't understand the rather deep concave concept in a shotgun shell (vs. hollow points for handgun). Wouldn't this affect the stability in a negitive manner especially in 100 yd. + distances?

    If you want a real good shooting sabot slug, they all say Lightfield on them...not Winchester, Remington, Federal, or BRI.
