Mauser Rifle Build

I am getting the urge to build another rifle. Do you know of any manufacturers that make a barrel chambered for 450 Marlin that will thread into a large ring Mauser?

Blanks dont work as I cant cut threads reliably on my lathe.A threaded blank would work.

  Here is the website of a man who can do it. www.gun-shop.biz. His phone number is 1-866-308-4570. His name is Fred Cianciolo, and he does a lot of Mauser work. It may require you to send the receiver to him to fit it properly and square it up if it's a surplus action.

  I believe that the .450 Marlin is a both a belted and rimed cartridge. Given that you might be a lot better off using one of the Siamese Mauser actions, that were imported and sold as surplus in the 80's. Getting a modern Mauser action to feed a belted/rimed cartridge might turn out to be a expensive headache, IMHO.

  Most likely you won't find a barrel off the shelf in the .450 Marlin chamber, it's not that popular.

  There are several other barrel makers that can make a short chambered barrel for you to finish:
  
  Shilen
  Douglas
  Pac-Nor
  
  The .450 Marlin is a short belted magnum similar to the .350 Remington Magnum and the 6.5 Remington Magnum. It has a rim for for extraction and a belt for headspace even though both have an adequate shoulder. The .450 Marlin however is a straight side case with no neck or shoulder so the belt is the only viable form of headspace.
  
  
  
  
  
  Mausers have been used for belted magnums since the advent of the .375 H&H. Yes there are modifications that will need to be made but you certainly don't need a Siamese Mauser at all. Replace the follower, adjust the rails and feed ramp, open up the bolt face and extractor just like any other Mauser conversion except this cartridge is a tad shorter than a X57 cartridge case and bigger in diameter.
  
  Thousands of Mausers have been converted to use the .458 Winchester Magnum since its introduction in 1956. The .450 Marlin is just a little shorter, the basic case is the same.
