M&P15-22 what is the barrel diameter ?

I am looking to make a flash suppressor for my sons Smith & Wesson M&P15-22, for his XMAS gift. Can someone tell me what is the outside diameter of the barrel ? Thanks in advance!

    Smith and Wesson probably can tell you that.

    You know, if you're going to fabricate/machine a metallic flash suppressor one would like to think you have access to a caliper.

    Are you going to have the barrel threaded? I say if you're going to do it, then do it right. If you DO get it threaded, then later you can swap out the flash suppressor for a different one, or even a sound suppressor.

    If not, how do you plan on attaching the flash suppressor so it doesn't fly off while shooting? Is it going to be removable?

    Also, before you go nuts with the fabrication, you might consider that US GI-type flash suppressors for AR-15 type rifles only run about $10.

    Adapting one to your kid's gun is still probably going to be easier, cheaper, and probably nicer looking than making one from scratch.
