    Cragg1988....Japanese ammo belts are rather rare and bring good prices, depending on condition. Most did not survive the jungle environment, much like Japanese canvas rifle slings. Are you sure of the caliber? Japanese rifles were chambered in 6.5mm and 7.7, but not 7.62. Now there are a ton of canvas Chinese ammo belts on the market just as you describe, made for the SKS in 7.62 but typically those stipper clips are for ten rounds, not five. How do you know that it was taken off a Japanese soldier? Photos would help. Good shooting!

    You really need photographs. IMA sells reproduction Imperial ammo belts and pouches and there is a lot of original ammo on strippers floating around.
    Japanese gear did not have the criscross straps however.
