If I have several guns, hand and long, shipped to my FFL guy, other than the $25 transfer fee per firearm, and I go there once when he has them all, I'm assuming he'll charge me only for one single background check fee? Is this correct?

Find a class 3 dealer in your area and speak to him. You will need him to transfer any out of state weapons to you. $200 tax stamp per weapon + cost of weapon + cost of shipping + cost of dealer to do transfer!! In state transfers can be done without dealer, but you have to do all the paper work and jump thru the hoops!! Check out post at the top. It has all the info you need and sites to go to.

Most of your questions can be answered here, http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=365687

You will need to find out IF they are legal in your state.

Since you are wanting to collect guns that old you can do it yourself. If you get a C&R License aka 03 FFL you can do legal transfer to yourself without the need of a C3 dealer. YOU will still need to follow ALL NFA laws.

Keep in mind that each of these guns is going to run you about $15,000-25,000.
