Yes, for C&R eligible firearms you don't need to do a 4473.

Does having this license eliminate my wait period at gun shows?

There is no Federal "wait period".

Without knowing what state you live in no one could accurately answer that question. Some state have restrictive laws regarding handguns- whether it's C&R does not matter.

Having a C&R would only exempt you from the Federal 4473 & NICS check. Your state may not.

That's true and I should have expanded my answer. Thanks.

The State is Illinois...contrary to popular belief, it's Illinois the State, not Chicago

Yes, but....several cities in IL have firearms restrictions. It's not just Chicago.

I am an Illinois C&R holder. As long as the gun qualifies as a C&R, over 50 years old or on the list, no waiting period at gun shows in Illinois. Do not think Chicago is an issue because I am not aware of any gun shows held in the City of Chicago. Just carry coppies of your liscense to sign and give to the seller.
