Winchester Seminole

Hello, I have a winchester seminole double barrel shotgun with a 29 7/8" barrel in 12 gauge serial #9672 it says pat. appd. for it a light brown patina and light checkering on the forearm and none on the grip. Wood is excellant w/no cracks. I would like to know more about it, year it was made, value, ect... Thanks Sorry but I cannot figure out how to send pics through this forum. If I could get your email I know I could do it that way. And no it doesen't look like the moael 24? Thanks again

    Can you post pictures of it?

    I have never heard of a "Winchester Seminole" SxS shotgun before. My guess is that you might have a spuriouly maked Model 24.

    If so its a 24. Winchester did import some side by sides from britain in the 1880's, but Im not sure what they called them. Can you post some photos?

    Winchester did not make a double barrel shotgun marked Seminole. The gun is what I call a "Trade Brand Name" shotgun. That is a shotgun made by a major maker for and sold by a wholesaler or retailer who chose the name to go on the gun. Shotguns with the name Seminole were made by the Crescent Fire Arms Co of Norwich,CT (1892 to 1932) and were sold at wholesale by the H & D Folsome Company of New York City a large wholesale and retailer of sporting goods. The gun was made in either 1904 or 1921 depending on the model. Incidentely H & D Folsome owned Crescent Fire Arms and what ever Folsome wanted, Crescent made. And what they wanted was a lot of inexpensive shotguns fast. Value? Value of a "Trade Brand Name" shotgun depends on its condition, the amount of original finish left on the metal and wood as well as the mechanical condition.This gun was inexpensive even when new selling for between $25.00 and $50.00. Value today can range from a high of maybe $200 for one in factory new condition (not many are) to less than $10 for a rusty rotten incomplete piece of junk fit only for a tomato stake.
