Remington Bolt 22 Rifle

I am looking for a Remington single shot 22 cal rifle.
The model according to Remington history is either a
510, 511, 512, or 514. Remington history does not show a
picture; The one I am looking for has a thumb safety on
the bolt. Thanks for your help. Ed

  Ed,the 510, 511, 512, and 513 all have safeties at the rear of the receiver; not on the bolt.
  If you check out Gunparts corp. see if they have a picture of the 514 bolt. I've never had one of them in my hands.

  Sounds like a 514. Should be some on the auction side.
  The 510 is a better rifle. The 514 was Remingtons "economy" model made to compete w/inexpensive Stevens models.

  I have to go down and look at my 513 but I thought that it has a safety that you turn, on the rear of the bolt. It has 3 or 4 lobes and one is red meaning safety is off. I wil have to look...

  I don't,but a common rifle. You shouldn't have much trouble finding one. General price of a decent,but not pristine used one is $125.

  You're probably thinking of the "TARGETMASTER" model 41 which preceeded the "TARGETMASTER" model 510. They're both single shots but the 41 is much like the 67 Winchester in that the barrel and receiver are integral. It has the large thumb safety you're thinking about whereas the 514 uses the rotating back of the bolt. Don't know if there's any on the auction side or not, I'm going to look.   Here's some pics of my mod 514 that was passed down to me from my dad, has the safety on the bolt.Was the first rifle he bought new for $16 in 1955. Many a squirrel&rabbit have seen how accurate this old single shot is[8D]
