White M1 Carbine Sling: Fake or Genuine?
Hello Everyone,
Can anyone provide some information on a white M1 carbine sling? I picked a couple up on trade.
The guy I traded with said they are USGI and were used for dress.
They are canvas and very well made. Just wondering if there really were such an animal made and possible value.
Thanks in advance. [:)]

White slings for dress and parade use were made for most firearms and there are white carbine slings. The examples that I have seen all have an arrow on the on the lock where the tab snaps into place. Value? Most guys try to get a premium for them, but the reality is that they are not as desirable (that means saleable) as the standard olive drab slings. 0 -

Hey, they could be useful if you were hunting bobcats in the snow. . .
Or like to dress like this when shooting:

A bit more seriously, apart from formal dress/parade use, one *possible* advantage of a white canvas sling is that you can easily dye it any OTHER color you like (eg black, "earth"/coyote brown, etc).0 -

I'll have to check my formal shooters etiquette guide to see if sling and shoes can match your jacket [;)]0 -
While we're talking carbine slings;
Was there ever a leather sling for the little M-1.
I'll try to get some pictures for posting of the leather in question.

Yep, this is what the sling looks like.

Looks like an arrow to me. So it must be a USGI sling.
Thanks again for the help.
Nice bear shot.0
