iver johnson 7 shot revolver value

hello, i am interested the value of a .22 iver johnson 7 shot revolver i have. it has patent dates or 1887-93 on it and is in fair but worn condition but all complete except for firing pin. any insight will be helpful. thanks.

    you don't give me a lot to go on here but patent dates are usually only found on iver johnson's arms & cycle works "safety automaic revolvers". the dates you list were found on both the late first and early second models usually between 1895 and 1898. on the 22 rimfire the firing pin is the hardest part to find so a 22 without a firing pin would not bring as much as a complete revolver. unless it is a third model hammerless, which did not use these patent dates. with the information listed my best guess would be under $100. with a better description of your gun (the exact markings and where they are found would help)i could most likely do better.

    I'm guessing closer to $25-40 one in 100 percent only lists at $100. they were the saturday night specials of the turn of the century

    i can't let this go unanswered. iver johnson's arms and cycle works was in business between 1871 and 1993 in one form or another. in fact it was under the ownership of the iver johnson family between 1871 and 1975. you dont stay in business that long in the firearms business by making cheaply built firearms. iver johnson was never a very costly pistol to own but they are not "sucide specials". this name was given to them in the forty's and fifty's after some of their revolver started to give up the ghost after being fired with the wrong ammo (smokeless) for years after they should have been retired. about one half of their production between 1871 and 1993 were manufactured for black powder cartridge pressures only. between 1894 and 1908 when they manufactured over five million safety automatic revolvers. they did not make the change to smokelss powder until 1909. the safety automatic top break revolver manufactured before 1909 was so strong they did not start to have problems until the 1930's or later.

    one last thing about the values of iver johnson firearms, check the 30th edition of the blue book and their values as listed on the auction side of this forum.
