Octagon Lever Action rifle Help

Hi,
I am looking for a cowboy type Lever action, Octagon barrel rifle. I would like blued, 28" barrel and prefer 44 magnum but flexible on the caliber. I would prefer a pistol caliber rather than a rifle caliber. I would like to use it rather than a safe queen collectible.

    The one that comes to mind, and appears to be readily available, is the Rossi-manufactured Puma, though with 24" barrel, for $386.00 delivered to your FFL dealer:

    Thanks for quick reply but isn't that more of a trapper? 26" is minimum but 28" is what I prefer. I am more flexible on caliber than the barrel length.

    I am not really looking for new or used. I don't know what Winchester, Browning or ?? made in the 50-70's that might be closer to my 'wants'. :-)

    not sure anyone makes a 28" but cimarron offers a 30" in a pistol caliber. I have shot their rifles before and they are well made. http://cimarron-firearms.com/RepeatingRifles/1873.htm the '73's are not offered in .44 magnum due to the pressures of that round but they are offered in .45 Colt and .44/40 that would more than do the job on targets or deer. If you have to have .44 magnum then you will have to go with a '92 or '94 style levergun

    Winchester had Miroku make some reproductions for them of the 1892 rifle/carbine. They are superbly made, and a bit more pricey than the Puma, or Cimmaron, but worth every penny. They are also a little harder to find, but do pop up every now and again. They made them in a bunch of pistol chamberings...32-20, 38-40, 44-40, 45 Colt, 357 Magnum, and 44 Magnum. That would be my suggestion, having seen and handled all of the ones listed above.

    Uberti makes a rifle modeled after the Winchester Model 1876 which has a 28" barrel but I don't think they chamber it to a pistol cartridge. Here's the link.

    Trapper model would be 18" or less barrel, 24" is a more standard carbine barrel.

    chapparal ....less expensive that winchester or uberti & does NOT have the funky osha epa safety switch on the top like rossi/taurus/puma whatever clones

    I would like to see pics of these. I did some searching and didn't find anything yet but somewhere it said Miroku made them for Browning as well?

    .45 .44/40 .357 are other calibers I am interested in.
