Buehler mounts
Looking for Buehler bases and rings to mount B&L Balvar 8A scopes on Interaarms Mark X and Howa long action rifles. Need to have elevation & windage adjustments since the scopes don't. Any ideas where to look?

Just bought a nice short action Mauser in 250 Savage, it has a Luopold Pioneer 8X scope with Buehler mounts. My question is how do you adjust the elevation? There are no external adjustments on this scope, just the rear mount. I got the windage figured out, but the gun shoots about 8" low at 100yds, and I can't figure out how to fix it. Do you shim it? If it's shooting low, do you raise, or lower the scope? I know how sights work, but when I use my bore sight to adjust scopes, I move the turrets the oposite way to get the proper adjustment. So it would seem that if it's shooting low, I need to lower the scope. HELP.[:(]

Assuming first off you have the Buehler mount without adjustments (the adjustable version is the "Buehler Micro-Dial"; I have one of these with a non-adjustable old Bausch & Lomb Balvar 8A scope) for elevation in the rear, the principle is the same as for iron sights. You need to raise the rear of the scope to make the rifle shoot higher, via shimming, or whatever method will raise the rear and/or lower the front of the fixed (non-adjustable) scope. Because of the coarse adustment and endless fiddling this might require, I think I'd consider changing either the mount to an adjustable variety, or the scope (if it were me, my humble opinion only; you might be far luckier than I am). 0 -
It would be unusual for a fixed scope to be mounted in a non-adjustable mount. That said, are you sure it's not a Micro-dial as PA Shooter said? Are there a couple of serrated wheels under the rear ring? If so, it's a Micro-dial and can be adjusted. And, if so, get back to us and one of us can walk you through the adjustments. 0
