hot gun bluing

what's a good de-greaser to use in hot bluing? I have 2 tanks and Brownell salts. I used to blue many years ago and used Carbon Tet, but I think that went the way of the carrier pidgeon.

  Brownells makes a good degreaser, you can also use Acetone.

  brownells, but you'll need another tank (cleaner, hot water rinse, blueing salts)

  IIRC I's called "dicro clean" Kinda soapy stuff..soak 15 min, rinse,then into the blueing tank...WORKS GREAT....

  Carbon tetrachloride? Yikes.
  Cleans great, but nasty stuff.
  Bad for the liver, bad for the kidneys, and damages the atmosphere.
  
  There are a bunch of products you could use instead. . .
  
  I'd suggest a tetrachloroethylene (TCE) based degreaser.
  
  I think the Brownell's one mentioned above is a TCE-based product.

  I just use gun scrubber. spray enough on so it drips off, wipe it down and repeat. i've had no problem with baked on finishes using gun scrubber.
  i also spray the parts with denatured rubbing alcohol just before finish is applied to displace any moisture.
  post some before/after pics of your reblue project.
