AR15 Dilema (FIXED!)
My buffer retainer does not retain the buffer assembly. As soon as the charging handle is cocked the retainer pops out of the hole and ends up in the trigger assembly. I have replaced the buffer retainer and the spring but it still does the same thing. What can I do to correct this?

Screw the buffer tube into the correct depth to hold the buffer retainer in.
Someone recently posted a pic that was correct for each type of stock.0 -
Buffer tube needs to be forward about one thread more, or the retaining pin hole has been enlarged due to damage. Most likely a buffer tube too far back. Trick is to have about 1/4 of the pin covered by the tube..snugged against the little pin that sticks up. Keep moving the buffer tube forward until it stops against that little 'pin' that's on the retainer. Best, Joe 0 -
To: Nwcid & givette: Thanks for your answers. I was using the buffer itself to hold down the retainer instead of the buffer tube. I assembled it correctly and no more problem. 0
