Remington MLR in 338 LM

Does anyone have the Remington 700 MLR in 338 Lapua Magnum and can relate accuracy and recoil? I already have an AR 30 in 338 LM, have a line on the 700 MLR. I don't like the AR's ergonomics and lock speeed is a bit sluggish, but the gun has no recoil due to its brake and I like that, would like to know if the 700 MLR brake is as efficient.

    I shot a pre-production model and can't compare it to the models that hit the market. I don't know the price of the one you're considering but with some of the other prices I've seen, you can build a nice custom for the same or a little better price.

    From what I've seen, no the brake is not as efficient nor could it be effectively tuned and clocked. You would have to go with the style of brake like the Armalite.

    For the lock time, I would talk to Armalite about getting a kit for that. Or there may be an after market kit. Since the bolt closely resembles a 700 LA bolt it might be possible for a 700 LA locktime kit to fit it. I would ask about that before I bought one and tried it though. Sometimes little things mean huge differences.

    Personally I loved my AR-30 (in .300) and found it to be every bit as accurate as any 700 I shot. Off the rack at least. It was also the first time I ever shot a big rifle that I could watch the bullet hit the target on.

    I got to see and shoot one at the international sniper shoot at Fort Chaffee two weeks ago.
    It is a nice factory rifle.
    The brake is efficient.

    But as NN said.
    You can build a nicer one for just a bit more.
