There is no such thing as "average value" for an engraved Winchester, especially the really old ones like a Model 1866. Having said that, there are no surviving factory records to authenticate your Model 1866, so the first thing you need to do is have it evaluated and appraised by someone who is a noted expert in that field of collecting and study. Based on the partial serial number you posted, it could have been engraved by either Samuel Hodgson or Louis D. Nimschke, but it could also be aftermarket engraving. It has been said for many years that more of the bronze framed guns (Henrys and M1866s) were engraved after the fact than those that are truly authentic.

Perhaps my anecdote will help with your question. Couple years ago a lady brought in an engraved '66, wondering what it might be worth. Not being a Win specialist, I would call it VG-E, probably Nimschke. In about a week offers went from $20k to $35k before she decided to take it home. It is probably back standing in the closet where it had been the past few generations. Unfortunately, great pieces like this tend to disappear by burglary, house fire - or both.
