need amt back up pistol magazine
I have a friend with an amt back up semi auto pistol with no magazine. It seems to be in excellent condition other than the missing magazine. He bought an old chest of stuff at a garage sale and it was at the bottom along with 100s of old 19th century tin types and about 10 years of a girls diary from the same period age 14 until around 24 years of age. That I thought was the greatest discovery that summer _ very interesting!. I
It is a .22 LR model and he was told it was the rarist of those pistol of that type in that caliber, but it was known to have a lot of problems with the gun jamming due to the low power in a 22 lr semi auto pistol of its size.
does anyone know where i can find one? (a magazin)
One weird thing while foolimg aroumd with it was I has several different .22 lr rounds so we were hoping we could at least see if it worked. Well it seems when we manually try to insert each bullet without the magazin, its as though it does not fit in the gun as it should. Its as though the barrel is too tight or too small and wont even fit the bullet tip in. Could it be it needs a certain type of round? I am very new to these small semi autos, especially in this caliber.
Hope someone can help and thanks in advance!

Can you post a picture of the pistol? Does it say AMT on the pistol?
May not be a real pistol, they don't make things smaller than 22 LR. Have you tried disassembling the pistol so you can get to the chamber better and see what is going on. If my memory is right, I think the barrel is pinned in the frame.0 -
From my personal experience, quality control and workmanship on the various generations of the AMT type pistols was poor to say the least.
When you take the pistol apart, drop a .22 LR cartridge into the chamber. If it doesn't go all the way in to the rim of the cartridge, something is wrong. Don't be wasting your money buying a magazine till you can get it fixed. I wouldn't be spending a lot of money on it, but take it to a local gunsmith to see if he can fix it by cleaning it up with a .22 LR chambering reamer.0
