Manufactured in early 1958.
I am unable to answer your question about the number of holes. Hopefully one of the other fellows who knows the Model 70 better than I do can answer that question for you.0 -
my 99% model 70 30-06 featherweight circa 1956' has four factory tapped holes four scope mounts and two on the side for receiver mount sights. 0 -
I have 2 pre 64 model 70 feather weights, a 270 and a 30-06, both bought new in 1956, and both have 4 holes taped in the reciever for scope mounts.My dad and his hunting buddy bought the guns new, I was 6 years old, and rember the day well. For the first two years they were used, they had Williams peep sights mounted, using the factory holes in the left side of the reciever. In 1959 both were fitted with 4X scopes, one Weaver K4 and the other a Luopold 4X. They both still have the same scopes on them.
