Winchester Gun Barrel Model???

I have the following Winchester Gun Barrel and was wondering if anyone could help me to identify the model of gun it goes with? Any help would be great

    Looks like somebody salvaged a Winchester rifle barrel and put a breech plug in it to use on a muzzleloader. What is the caliber?

    If there are no caliber markings on the flat one down from the top near the rear and to the shooter's left, it was probably shortened to remove the cartridge chamber for use as a muzzleloader.

    Interesting but hard to dig up more information on.

    Thanks for the reply. It has the numbers 38-55 on the spot you described. I was thinking that my grandpa added the muzzleloader piece onto this rifle barrel and it looks like I was right. Any idea of the model with those numbers as additional info?

    I agree with Hawk, it sure looks like a shortened a barrel. it looks like a Model 1890 to me. How long is it? Don't you see a model right after the writing on the barrel: NEW HAVEN, CONN, U.S.A. - ????? Right there?

    Hi
    Here is an image of the barrel. It does not look like a 22 caliber and the entire barrel is 30 in long including the muzzleloader piece and without the muzzle loader piece it is a little under 29 inches. Also there is nothing after the writing I took a picture of. The only other markings are 38-55 in two places and the number 3 underneath the barrel.

    On page 1364 of 2008 Catalog of Firearms for Collector's Pricing and Reference I found:

    "A Winchester High Wall Schuetzen rifle sold at auction for $31,625. Chambered in 38-55 catridge and fitted with a 30-inch #3 weight octagon barrel... April/May 2004.

    Hello Scott,

    The barrel was originally on a Winchester Single Shot (Model 1885) high-wall. The dead give away is the 30" length, and the "3" marked the barrel. The Winchester address on the barrel tells me that it was a pre-1899 manufacture. If you measure the full length of the barrel (including the threaded shank), you will find that it is very close to 30-inches in length.
