Question about Midway Online Catalog
I was just in Midway's online catalog. In the reloading section under most popular handgun reloading dies it had the 5.45x18MM. I don't even know what a 5.45x18MM is much less did I know it was popular... So I opened up the catalog and took a look, it talks about case forming dies...so I have to ask, what is a 5.45x18MM good for and what is the parent case?

From Wikipedia:
"The cartridge design of the 5.45x18mm is essentially a 9x18mm Makarov pistol cartridge bottlenecked down to take a smaller spitzer-pointed jacketed high velocity bullet."0 -
5.45 X 18mm is a Russian military pistol cartridge. It's used in the PSM pistol shown in this photo. It dates to the 1970's. Very few have ever made it to the west, because of the supposedly body armor penetrating capabilty of the bullet. It has nothing to do with the 9mm Makarov cartridge, as the base and rim diameter of the 5.45 X 18 is smaller.

Rufe-snow thanks for the correction. But I still have the question, what parent case is RCBS reforming into a 5.45x18 case and why if there are no guns here in the US that shoots it? 0
