Model 39 conversion

How difficult would it be to convert a Smith and Wesson Model 39 to double action only? I know that S&W make the Model 39 in a DAO configuarion. Can it be done by replacing a couple of parts or is it too complicated to pursue?

  Simple but ineffective, its an automatic and the hammer is cocked by slide movement.

  That might work with a revolver, but not with a semi-auto.
  
  The reason is that the hammer self-cocks every time a round is fired, so you don't end up with a double-action only gun.
  
  I can't comment on how hard it is to convert THIS gun to double-action only, but with many semi-auto guns you can do it just by altering the hammer engagement surfaces (or just swapping out the hammer entirely).
