1858 reminoist pistol

My father in law showed me a gun that was found by father out west many years ago as a sheep hearder.It is in poor condition (would not shoot)all rusted and wood handle damaged.There is manufacture date sept 14 ,1858 .What is the history and if there is any walue to this gun.

  I believe you mean REMINGTON pistol. Do a search for Model 1858 Remington and you'll find a lot of information of this .44 caliber Civil War Army revolver. Otherwise, we would need some good, clear pictures to render any opinion as to value.
