Remington 870 SC Skeet Target Model

Just aquired one of these beautiful guns...made in 1977...noticed a HOLE in the trigger assembly just forward from the trigger. Wondered what its purpose was? Thanks!!!

  If it's in the part of the guard that's outside the receiver...It's probably where the safety was removed...

  Nope, not the safety. It is behind the trigger on an 870.
  
  I can't recall what hole you might be referring to but I will take a look at my 870 later and get back with you.

  Looked at my 870 riot gun and it also has the hole in the trigger guard in front of the trigger, can't elaborate as to why it is there or what function it serves.
