CZ has no plans to make a 5MM rifle
I sent CZ an email asking about the 452 and making it in 5 MM Remington. They say they have no plans to do so...the articles saying they were are incorrect.

Thanks for the update. I'm not exactly surprised by this.
Despite what CZ is saying NOW, I don't think the articles were incorrect in the sense that CZ *DID* announce that it was going to put out a new 5mm gun at the SHOT show.
If that didn't actually happen, then a lot of people were either dreaming, hallucinating, or outright lying, including one of the reporters from Guns and Ammo magazine.
For example, here is ANOTHER email, ostensibly from CZ (including contact information). Somehow I don't think this poster just made the whole thing up:

Here is the reply I got from CZ on the expected 5mm Rem Mag....
We are planning on do these in both the 452 American and Varmint. We do not have a specific date of when we will release these but hopefully it will be around the beginning of next year.

Anyway, CZ probably was planning on putting out these guns, just changed its mind later. That sort of thing happens all the time.
In this case, a tremendous amount has happened since that show.
The political administration has shifted strongly to the left, and the economy has gone to utter crap with unemployment levels not seen in decades. There has been an unprecedented demand for military-style weapons, and massive across the board ammo shortages (which are finally subsiding now).
CZ probably just took a realistic look at the economic and political climate and decided that it is a lousy time to take a chance tooling up to manufacture what is likely to be a low-selling niche gun. Who knows what CZs own bottom line looks like right now.
The fact that the 5mm was a commercial flop the last time around and that this time there is more competition in the high-velocity rimfire niche can't be helping.0 -
In general, the Eastern European countries, and probably including the Czech Republic, are really hurting from the economic malaise. Many of these countries borrowed heavily to boost their economies and increase investment when times were good, and now they are strapped. As beantownshootah pointed out, the tooling and costs of a low volume model are probably something that they will avoid for now. 0
