    The .357 Sig has a very short neck. This makes it very tricky to get proper neck tension and a tight crimp with the bullets. I would be very careful to do the least amount of chamfering and deburring you can get away with to maintain proper crimp and neck tension.

    Recently when reloading .357 Sig I have made up dummy rounds using the same brass and bullets as my reloads. I run them through the pistol manually by releasing the slide stop. Then I measure them with a dial caliper to make sure the bullets don't jump the crimp and get pushed deeper into the case.

    We load approximately 1,000 rounds a month of the .357 SIG and have done so for several years. All cases are deburred and inside outside case mouth chamfered, as is proper practice, expanded and bullets are taper crimped. We have some shooters who headspace on the case neck with once fired brass and roll crimp on a set of RCBS dies. The 0.130" of contact is more that sufficient to hold bullets in place.

    To duplicate slide return with stored energy would require slide close velocity of approximately 22fps, not just manually simulated slide return.

    Joe, thanks for the info. I am only deburring the inside of the case neck and am taper crimping. Seems to work fine.
