ASTRA 44 Mag Grips

I have just pruchased an Astra 44mag. I am aware of the background info on the company and understand Astra went out in 1989. I was wondering if the grips are interchangeable between an Astra and a Smith and Wesson 629/29? I don't have or know anyone with a Smith to try it out, and I would like to know without purchasing grips only to find out they don't fit.

  Don't think it's that easy. I was told the same ting with the Astra 960 38 and S&W K frame grips. They could be made to fit with considerable Dremel work. I've found some old stock Pachmayr rubber grips for the 38/357 frame Astra so there might be some for the 44. Or they might be the same grip size. The grips I have are a smaller size and a larger wraparound size.
