Desert Eagle 2 part question

1) I haven't held one yet, so I was wondering how it feels to someone else. We have a gunshow coming in February, and I'll probably make my purchase then, if I like the feel. It just looks awkward, where is your second hand supposed to go, just under the chamber, I'd rather not put it there.

    It feels like a big heavy handgun, but it ballances well, especially the 357 and 44 mag pistols.. I would imagine any of the normal two handed grip, arms slightly bent a the elbo postures would work for most everyone who has learned how to shoot any other handgun. Just squeeze it and keep your wrists locked, your upper body forward, letting recoil go up your arms through your sholders into your upper body.


    In my opinion handgun recoil, the DE chamberings being no exception, is generally over rated somewhat, probably by people not used to bigger handguns. there is recoil, quite alot compared to a 9mm, but the goal is keeping your front sight on the target during recoil, not focusing on your palms.[;)]

    I haven't shot one but I have held a couple at stores while dreaming and drooling. I am 5'10" with average to smallish hands and the grip felt huge to me with one hand (I had to try) and thus made it feel very barrel heavy. In fairness only thing I own to really compare it to is a USP Compact which fits me like a glove. However with a traditional two hand hold it felt much more comfortable. It is also very heavy which I would imagine would help with the recoil.

    All that being said it very high on my list of guns to buy when I get money.

    I bought my DE this year. Its an XIX .50AE. I have hands that fit into medium size gloves well, and the gun is not to big for my hands. I'm 5'9", about 170lbs. The guns recoil isn't as heavy as you would think, but the muzzle jump is considerable but managable. I grip using a common two handed thumb into thumb, squeeze the backs of the palms together type grip. What I learned from the other USPSA/IPSC shooters. The gun is considerably easy to shoot, and way more accurate than I am. Its heavy, which is good for what it is, but keep in mind that it likes to climb upward alot when you squeeze the trigger. In fact if your not careful it will go up and being held in your hand basically spin back into your head. But this is muzzle jump, not recoil. Recoil wise, the gun doesn't kick as hard as one of those little scandium .38spl S&W revolvers with +P loads. It doesn't hurt to shoot. Its really fun to shoot in fact, just expensive. At $2.38 a shot to be exact.

    The gun feels good. I had an issue with improper lubrication with mine early on which I quickly corrected. I took it to a local gunstore to get it cleaned and properly lubed before I shot and they didn't do it right. Make sure to follow the instructions on the video. WATCH THE VIDEO! It comes free with the gun. You need to properly lubricate it before you shoot it, and make sure you reasemble it properly.

    I love mine though. I get more pleasure out of 5 shots with my DE than I do 50 shots thru my .40sw anyday.
